Nu Skin – The Science Behind the Products

Nu Skin – The Science Behind the Products

Nu Skin is a billion dollar network marketing company who claims to set new industry standards in anti-aging skin care/nutritional products with real solutions that provide real, documented results. They have a team of in-house scientists (located in three global research centers) who are teaming up with some of the best research institutions in research and development to target the ultimate sources of aging. Specifically, they have teamed up with scientists at Stanford (which is focusing on profiling gene expression during aging) and LifeGen Technologies (LifeGen offers 30 years research into the genetic basis of aging). These partnerships, according to Nu Skin, will allow them to develop ground-breaking, propriety products far into the future.

The Scientists

So who are the scientists behind Nu Skin? Below are the three leading scientists on the Company’s Scientific Management Team:

Joseph Y. Chang, Ph.D.: Dr. Chang was appointed Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President of Product Development in February 2006. He has broad knowledge of both the pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industries and serves as a member of the Executive Committee for the Company. He has also published numerous articles, reviews and books on pharmacological research during his nearly 20 years in the health care industry. Dr. Chang received a B.S. degree from Portsmouth University and a Ph.D. from the University of London.

Helen Knaggs, Ph.D.: Dr. Knaggs has almost 20 years of experience in skin research and product development and her expertise in skin and hair biology has helped produce many publications and patents. She presently serves as Vice President of Nu Skin Global Research and Development where she works closely with the Company’s Scientific Advisory Board to identify the latest research and trends in skin care. Dr. Knaggs earned bachelor’s degrees (with honors) in biochemistry and pharmacology, and a doctorate degree from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Leeds, England.

Mark Bartlett, Ph.D.: Dr. Bartlett oversees research and development for all Pharmanex products at Nu Skin. His research experience includes the area of cardiovascular disease with emphasis on the role of free radicals and antioxidants, transplant research, and human autoimmune inflammatory diseases (he has published more than a dozen papers on this work). Dr. Bartlett holds degrees in biochemistry and organic chemistry from the Australian National University and a Ph.D. in Immunology and Cell Biology from the John Curtin School of Medical Research in Canberra, Australia.

The Science

Nu Skin has brought together a world-class team of scientists that has changed how the world understands aging. Through their research and development, they are demonstrating that the aging process is no longer considered inevitable. Its through the principles of these insights that Nu Skin developed ageLOC science.

Through ageLOC science, they are focusing on the ultimate sources of aging called “age related super markers” or “arSuperMarkers”. They then identified groups of genes that play a central role in the aging process called “Youth Gene Clusters (YGC’s)”. Using their propriety ageLOC science and ingredients, Nu Skin states that it has found ways to reset these YGC’s to a more youthful profile.

Nu Skin’s findings are a result of years of unparalleled research combined with some of the greatest minds in the scientific world. They believe they are revolutionizing the nutrition and personal care industries with products that offer comprehensive anti-aging solutions. They also believe that over the next ten years ageLOC’s full impact will be realized in many ways (with both topical and ingestible products).
